Built Tough, Built for Industry: The S200 Series Advantage

From the perspective of industrial reliability, the ABB S200 series of miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) is designed specifically to suit industrial applications.

They feature a dual-entry cylindrical lift terminal structure that allows for connection to busbars or cables at either the top or bottom. Capable of accommodating conductors up to 35mm² in cross-section, this design offers greater flexibility for on-site wiring and aligns with standard busbar layouts found in industrial cabinets.

The bottom-mounted auxiliary contact design reduces space requirements by approximately 50% compared to traditional side-mounted versions, offering a significant advantage in densely packed industrial distribution boxes.

The contact position indicator is mechanically linked directly to the moving contacts—rather than the operating handle—ensuring an accurate reflection of the actual open or closed state. This prevents misinterpretation in the event of contact welding, a crucial factor for safe industrial maintenance.

Additionally, the S200 series offers a comprehensive range of tripping characteristics. Beyond the standard B, C, and D curves, it includes specialized curves such as K and Z to accommodate unique industrial loads, including semiconductor protection and high-inrush motors.

With a maximum rated current of 100A—surpassing the 63A limit of the C65N series—these breakers are suitable for use in high-capacity industrial branch circuits.
